Asking for an email address

The email address is one of the most important types of information a customer can provide for unique identification and for the ability to re-engage when needed. Asking for an email address is therefore a special action. Not only due to the fact that it is quite complex to extract an email address from a sentence (e.g. "My email address is niels@botsquad.com") it is also important the name is stored in the user object: user.email.

For this reason there is a special input type on ask for email addresses. The following example shows its usage.

Using the field Field name is not mandatory since the value will be stored in the user object anyway.

The ask email action has a bit more configuration options. The default configuration works perfectly fine. Make sure to toggle the Don't allow to skip field when you need to force users to provide their email address before continuing.
